About

Where do I begin? The name’s Fatin, but everyone calls me Tin. The story behind it is not as fancy as you might think. Sticking to the oldest tale in book; no one knew how to pronounce it right, and so I stuck to it. I know I know… It’s not the greatest story to tell at a dinner party.

My background and story starts off generic and mundane in Malaysia. After saying enough is enough about staying home, I decided to light up fireworks in my life and jump across multiple States in the United States. It was the best 8 years of my life, experiencing both the West and East Coast, and I have never looked back in my decision to do so.

I took my first big girl steps in Hilton Head, South Carolina for a year to shape up my golf game at The International Junior Golf Academy, before making my way further down south to Tampa, Florida to pursue my degree in Journalism and Communications at The University of Tampa. Instead of fully hunkering down in books, I played collegiate golf as well, and made lifelong friends who I call family. When I thought 3 and half years were good enough after receiving my degree, I decided to hop on a plane, uproot everything from Florida, and move to wine country Temecula, California. For all you wine folks out there, this is the closest you can get to experiencing Napa Valley. Now here is where I made a 360 degree turn in my education career. I pursued an Associate’s Degree in Professional Golf Management at the Professional Golfers Career College. Yeah… that. Came as a huge surprise for many and believe or not, me as well. Never imagined dabbling in management or business, but it was one of the greatest and most challenging 16 months.

Education was not just the sole mission during this particular stage of my life. I had to hit the books and also care for my brother who was fighting Cancer. 2017 was a real life changing year with ups and downs. Personally made me a better and more understanding person. However as much fighting we did within the year 2017, my brother ended his fight in 2018, two months after my graduation. Now that… was a huge life changer, which was hard to accept.

Life moves on, regardless of what we face and so I took my first job at a golf course in California. Learned the ins and outs of running a golf course, from the very bottom to the very tip top. This was a humbling experience, because as a player you do not see what goes in to run a golf course, and tend to pass comments of how a golf course looks. I saw both sides and understood all the little things needed to maintain a facility.

Coming back to the present, I am back on home soil, and figuring out my life. I will be honest I had a tough time fitting in and finding the niche I wanted to do. Mum said, “You love to write, so why not start there?” Kindness has always been a favorite word of mine, and it came to me, why not write about happiness and kindness? So here I am reviving my college blog and hoping to make changes in the world, with one Kindness Project at a time. I know it is a big task, but you gotta start somewhere am I right?
